ECISD 18+Transition Learning Center Prepares Students For Life-DRB Media Communications Digital News

Odessa, Texas/October 6, 2022-The Ector County ISD 18 Plus Transition Learning Center located at 1111 W. 12th Street hosted the National Disability Employment Awareness Month Kick-Off Ceremony. Local and State political representatives along with ECISD school board trustees attended the ceremony.

Students participate in a variety of activities in combination of classroom and community-based environments for individuals with disabilities who are 18 to 21 years-of-age and have met all their high school requirements.

Texas State Representative Brooks Landgraf, District 81 authored House Bill 119 known as Daniel’s Law, which prohibits organ transplant recipient discrimination on the basis of certain disabilities. ECISD’s 18 Plus Transition Learning Center provides services and resources for students with disabilities and also for their families as they transition from school to life after high school graduation.

Dallas Kennedy Ector County ISD Transition Felicitator spoke passionately to the business community, Odessa City Council representatives, the Odessa Chamber and to State officials of the importance of persons with disabilities be employed.

Odessa, Texas/September 11, 2022-During the latest City Council work study session, Councilman District 2 Steve Thompson and Councilmember District 5 Mari Wills had an item on the works study session agenda, regarding the “travel policy.” Council member Wills was not present at the City Council work session leaving Councilman Thompson to question Mayor Javier Joven on resent trips the Mayor took on behalf of the City of Odessa.

The City of Odessa Travel Policy was established in 1996 and crafted at that time in part by councilman Javier Joven to allow the Odessa Mayor and members of the city council to travel to conduct business and/or necessities for the benefit of the City of Odessa.

If the current Odessa City Council want to change the travel policy and be informed of what the Mayor’s office is doing in regards to travel Mayor Joven suggest it should be done in an open meeting.

Odessa, Texas/September 9, 2022-The West Texas Warbirds announced at a recent press conference a move to a new Arena Football League and showcased the signing of four players to the 2023 West Texas Warbirds football season.

Odessa, Texas/August 21, 2022-Recently, recruits with the Odessa Police Academy 24 held firearms training learning the operation of firearms and firearms safety.

In previous OPA academies, recruits had experience shooting gun and forming bad habits. In the current Odessa Police Academy many of the recruits have never handled or fired a weapon.

During the week of firearms training the recruits practiced on various drills using their service sidearms, shotguns, military style automatic weapons and rifles.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(081922)-TENNESSEE MAN ARRESTED FOR STOLEN VEHICLE

Odessa, Texas/August 19, 2022-On Thursday, August 18th at about 9:09am the Odessa Police Department’ received a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of East 8th and North Grandview Ave. 

OPD officers observed the vehicle parked at the Auto Zone parking lot located in the 1900 block of East 8th near the intersection of East 8th and McKinley across from the Whataburger. 

Wulfert Colton, 27-years-of-age of Tennessee, was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
