The Kent Companies Celebrate the 89th Convenience Store with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Odessa, Texas/August 29, 2023-The Kent Companies celebrated their 89th Kent Kwik convenience store located at West 8th Street and West Loop 338 in Odessa with a ribbon-cutting ceremony presented by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. The West 8th Street convenience store is the new model for future Kent Kwik stores.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, The Kent Companies presented a check in the amount of 85 thousand dollars to Buckner, an international ministry that protects vulnerable children, strengthening families, transforming lives for generations, and serving senior adults through Christ-centered values.

Odessa Police Department Holds Testing Day

Odessa, Texas/August 27, 2023-On Saturday, August 26th, the Odessa Police Department held a “Testing Day” for people interested in becoming an officer with the OPD. About 20 people registered for the event and a couple of walk-ins came in on the day of the testing.

The Odessa Police Department Testing Day is a new recruiting method that allows the applicant to get a preview of the process of going through the Odessa Police Academy.

11th Annual Angel Driven Golf Tournament Benefit St Joseph and St Anthony Catholic Churches

Odessa, Texas/August 26, 2023-Golfers from around the Permian Basin came out Saturday morning, August 26th to support the 11th annual Angel Driven Golf Tournament. Funds raised from the tournament will go towards St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in south Odessa.

Ector County Republican Women’s Club Presents Landgraf, Sparks and Pfluger at August Luncheon

Odessa, Texas/August 26, 2023-The Ector County Republican Women’s Club recently held their August luncheon at the Odessa Country Club. The ECRW was excited to present to its membership and guests State Representative, District 81 Brooks Landgraf, State Senator, District 31 Kevin Sparks and U.S. Congressman of the Texas 11th District August Pfluger. 

Topics covered were issues with the EPA regarding emissions, the continued illegal migration and the southern border and property taxes.

Odessa Chamber of Commerce Hosts Welcome Mixer Event for New Odessa City Manager

Odessa, Texas/August 25, 2023-The Odessa Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a Welcome mixer for John Beckmeyer, the new Odessa City Manager. 

Dr. Gregory Williams, president of Odessa College, representatives of UTPB, business leaders, Ector County Judge Dustin Fawcett, and representatives of City of Odessa were present at the event.

Lowriders Against Bullying Car Show and Concert

Odessa, Texas/August 21,2023-On Saturday, August 19th, “Lowriders Against Bulling Car Show” held its 4th annual anti-bulling event in downtown Odessa. The event featured a lowrider competition and awards ceremony and guest speakers.

Kids enjoyed playing in the jumper and rides. Families tasted a wide variety of food from several food truck vendors. The car show portion of the event featured lowriders from car clubs from around the Permian Basin, the State of Texas and from New Mexico.
