Odessa Police Respond to West Walmart Threat

Odessa, Texas/May 11, 2023-On Thursday, May 11th, at approximately 8:30am, Odessa Police responded to the West Walmart located at 2450 NW Loop 338 after an unknown male subject called Dispatch and said he was at Walmart with a gun. When Odessa Police arrived officers quickly evacuated the store. A source close to the investigation said that the subject was inside a restroom, and eventually exited the restroom, complied with officers’ commands and was taken into custody. There was never an active shooter. There are no reports of any injuries, and the investigation is ongoing.

Midland, Texas/May 10, 2023-The Permian Basin Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse held a Fentanyl Awareness meeting to present information to the community on the dangers of Fentanyl.

Local Law Enforcement agencies are responding calls where children as young as 13, have overdosed from drugs obtained either by a drug dealer or from parents.

Midland County Drug Court Celebrate 19 Graduates

Midland, Texas/May 9, 2023-Midland County Drug Court celebrated another round of drug court graduations. 19 graduates successfully completed the programs from the three courts.

The evening’s event featured several graduates speaking on being treated as a human being despite the fact they have an addiction, their road to sobriety and spiritual inspiration that helped them through their most difficulty moments.

Keep Odessa Better, Business Bureau and Secured Document Shredding Hold Document Shredding Event

Odessa, Texas/May 7, 2023-On Saturday, May 6th, Keep Odessa Beautiful and The Better Business Bureau teamed up with Secured Document Shredding and invited residents of the Permian Basin out to the Odessa Recycling Center for a document shredding event.

The document shredding event helps residents with limited resources destroy documents they’ve had in storage for many years and help prevent identity theft.
