Odessa, Texas/March 23, 2024-The Odessa Police Department held their Burgers for Badges fundraiser event at the Whataburger located at the corner of 42nd and JBS Parkway. Burgers for Badges kicks off the annual Bustin for Badges clay shoot event.

The Ector County Sheriff’s Office held their Burgers for Badges event at the Whataburger on Andrews High close to East 42nd Street.

Deputies sold Bustin’ for Badges raffle tickets for a chance to win great prizes, while children were able to see the armored personnel carrier, and demonstrations by the Ector County Sheriff’s Office Canine Unit.

City of Odessa Ends Funding to Downtown Odessa, Inc-Returns as an Independent Nonprofit Corporation

Odessa, Texas/March 18, 2024-Odessa, Texas/March 18, 2024-During a recent meeting of the Odessa City Council, City Manager John Beckmeyer presented a resolution to the council to cut the funding and support to Downtown Odessa, Inc. and removing the organization from the City of Odessa.

Downtown Odessa, Inc was originally called Main Street Odessa, a non-profit Corporation that presented 

events downtown that included the summer bash 4th of July center piece Firecracker Fandango. The organization is currently located inside Municiple Plaza. A previous Odessa City Council Administration brought the non-profit corporation to the City of Odessa as a department. It is unknown if Downtown Odessa, Inc., will be able to remain at Municiple Plaza.

member and a Downtown Odessa business owner voiced their support of Downtown Odessa, Inc as a City department.

Raza Style Ministry 1st Annual Spring Fallout Bike Meet at Floyd Gwin Park

Odessa, Texas/March 18, 2024-The Raza Style Ministry along with the City of Odessa held the 1st Annual Spring Fallout Bike Meet. Several independent bikers came out to Floyd Gwin Park to showcase their bikes during the free community event.

Ector County Commissioners Meeting for Tuesday, March 12, 2024

Odessa, Texas/March 17, 2024-On Tuesday, March 12th during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Ector County Commissioners, the court approved the donation of plant seeds to Michelle Lee Spinks who is volunteering her time to help revitalize Kellus-Turner Park in west Ector County.

The Commissioners Court also approved the appointment of former Midland Public Library Director, and the current Executive Director of the Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin John Trischitti to the Ector County Library board.

Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies Respond to Hostage Situation at Sundance Creek Apartments

Midland, Texas/March 14, 2024-On Wednesday, March 13th, around 11pm Midland Police Department responded to a welfare check call at the Sundance Creek Apartments, located at 3700 Edwards Street off of East Wadley. When officers arrived, a male was barricaded inside an apartment with possibly two adult females and a minor child.

Sometime last night or during the early morning hours of Thursday, March 14th residents in Building 8 were asked to evacuate their apartments due to the disturbance. It is unknow how many Sundance Creek Apartment residents are currently displaced.

Several Law Enforcement Agencies that included the Odessa Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI assisted the Midland Police Department in hopes of diffusing the hostage situation and bring a favorable end to the situation.

It is unknow currently the motive of the alleged hostage situation. Family members as well as co-workers of the alleged hostage suspect had been assisting law enforcement to bring an end to the hostage situation.

Lucky Gal’s Night-Out Saint Patrick’s Day Inspired Art Class by Lilianna Marquez

Odessa, Texas/March 10, 2024-Local artist Liliana Marquez held her special art class inspired by Saint Patrick’s Day that falls on Sunday, March 17th. The art class was sponsored by the Malhotra Law Firm and hosted by Home Made Wines located at Texas and 4th Street in downtown Odessa. The special art class is a way for women entrepreneurs to network with each other and enjoy an evening of painting, food and wine.
