Odessa, Texas/June 13, 2022-The Odessa Police Department is offering an active shooter response training program for residents, businesses and organization called CRASE-CIVILIAN RESPONES TO AN ACTIVE SHOOTER EVENT. OPD has been offering this program to the community for about 5 years.

Odessa, Texas/June 6, 2022-The Odessa Police Department has started their neighborhood watch parties also known as mini block parties to start encouraging residents to join and be part of the Neighborhood Watch program. The first neighborhood watch party was hosted by the Pepper Tree apartments on Oakwood and JBS Parkway.

The Odessa Police Department provided jumpers for the kids, and give-a-ways; The OPD S.W.A.T. Team had their armored vehicle on display as well as S.W.A.T. weapons and hardware.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(051722)-ODESSA POLICE INVESTIGATING MURDER OF A FEMALE

Odessa, Texas/May 17, 2022-During the evening hours of Monday, May 16th Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue responded to a call of a deceased person at the Parkway Inn Motel located at 3731 East Highway 80. The investigation revealed that a female had been stabbed multiple times and was unresponsive. Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division began investigating the death of the adult female. 

An arrest warrant was issued for Jose Sarinana, 46, for the offense of Murder- First Degree Felony. He has been placed into custody and was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.  

The victim has been identified as Cynthia Ann Mendoza, 46 years of age, from Lamesa, TX.

Odessa, Texas/May 15, 2022-Odessa Fire-Rescue and the Odessa Police Department held their First Annual Field to Shield recruiting fair. Both first responder agencies invited Ector County ISD Juniors and Seniors and the entire community to come out to Odessa City Hall and see various life-saving demonstrations and techniques.

The Fire Technology Department at Odessa College offers classes and training in firefighting and EMT certification for students seeking a career as a first responder.

The Odessa Police Department displayed the SWAT TEAM armored vehicles, the mobile high tech Command Center and the Odessa Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit. ECISD High School students had the opportunity to talk OPD Officers and ask questions.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(051222)-CHRISTOPHER HENDERSON ARRESTED AT WHATABURGER ON 8TH ST

Odessa, Texas/May 12, 2022-On Tuesday, May 10th, at around 9:30am, an African-American male in this early 30’s entered the Whataburger on East 8th street in Odessa and began yelling expletives at customers and Whataburger kitchen and counter employees. The African-American male began yelling at the female Whataburger employees telling them in graphic detail what he wanted them to do with is penis.
The Mayor of the City of Odessa Javier Joven was with his father, Joe Joven and other members of the Hispanic community as well as a reporter with DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS inside the 8th Street Whataburger at the time of the incident. The Afican-American did threatened to leave and return to kill everyone inside the Whataburger. Mayor Joven and his father were in a booth when the terrorist threats were made.,

The African American male exited the restaurant and confronted two elderly Hispanic males in their late 60’s early 70’s, and assaulted one of the elderly males.

The Odessa Police Department arrived on scene at about 10am, and arrested Christopher Henderson, 37-years-of-age on a single lane street behind the Whataburger. Christopher Henderson was charged with Injury to an Elderly Person.
At this time, Mr. Perez and Whataburger at the East 8th location and others that witnessed the threat plan to file charges.

DRB MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS DIGITAL NEWS(050422)-ODESSA POLICE ACADEMY 24 TRAFFIC CONTROL TRAINING

Odessa, Texas/May 4, 2022-Odessa Police Academy 24 held traffic control training at the intersection of Grant Street and 3rd Street. Recruits took turns directing traffic under the supervision of veteran Odessa Police officers.

Recruits practiced eye and hand coordination during heavy traffic. The recruits of OPA 24 will soon engage in professional driving and firearm training.
